I want to know what you think about recycled water
There is nothing more grim than to drive around Southern Downs looking at the lack of greenery. This drought, while it is not the first and won’t be the last, its seems to be hitting us harder than before.
It’s critically important that we find solutions to this crisis before the next drought. While emotions are running hot, its hard to admit the only thing that can break our current drought is rain. Although our despair can’t stop us from talking about what’s next.
While there are many options before us, we need to think about what is possible. Building more dams is not likely to be the solution to our issues. We need rain to fill dams where ever they are, and if the current situation teaches us anything, mother nature has her own plans for that.
We can implement water saving measures, leave in place constant water restrictions, make changes to the planning codes to enforce water storage. All these measures will buy us some time, but they don’t guarantee water security.
I’m conducting a poll on my website to ask people their thoughts about recycled water. I would also like to hear your thoughts and ideas about water security. You can drop me an email at joel.richters@qldlabor.org.au or send me a message through my website.
